HUSKY
(VAL D'ISÈRE · SAVOIE · 2012)
(RESIDENTIAL)

The Husky, located in the hamlet of Petit Alaska, is certainly the most experimental chalet we have built. The English call it “Whaou” and “So Funcky”.

The 250 m² day room is located under an imposing exposed frame made of metal and old wood. A 50 m² glass roof allows an upward view of the surrounding mountain ridges. 2 bedrooms open on the second day onto an interior plant patio including palm trees, located under the glass roof.
All of the chalet's woodwork is made from recycled wood, including the parquet flooring which was salvaged from the demolition of a 19th century barracks in Dijon. A large part of the carved wooden doors were brought back from the Afghan mountains by Martial and Zohra, enthusiasts from Mauritius.
Several hand-carved and painted wooden bedroom ceilings were brought from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
This assembly of raw old materials blends harmoniously with modern elements of steel and glass.

The swimming pool also overlooks this patio. It overflows onto a glass wall, against which the water flows towards the pebble tray. The ceiling of the swimming pool is made of translucent canvas backlit by multi-colored LEDs which can be controlled by music. The chalet also offers a climbing room on natural rock as well as an archery and rifle (laser) shooting range.
A chalet intended for rental with hotel services, which explains the freedom of design, without customer specifications.
